On August 30, 2026, machines roared at the construction site of the China Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan railway near Markmar, Kyrgyzstan. This 304.84-kilometer railway is crossing the Tianshan Mountains, closely connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. After completion, the transit logistics channel will be shortened by about 900 kilometers, becoming a transportation artery that connects Central Asia and radiates across the Eurasian continent, and also another example of high-quality cooperation among SCO member states.

The project will construct 29 tunnels and 50 bridges, with the total length of bridges and tunnels accounting for nearly 40% of the entire line. The longest railway bridge exceeds 1000 meters and the longest tunnel runs through a 13 kilometer ridge, facing various rock challenges. The three arm rock drilling rig imported from China greatly accelerates the drilling speed and significantly improves the construction efficiency. 20 stations will be built along the entire line, and construction has begun on the Markmar interchange station and the Manas train station. The construction site gathers workers from China, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine, who are as close as a family. The project focuses on ecological protection, and the route bypasses national parks and ecologically fragile areas. After the railway is completed, Kyrgyzstan will achieve connectivity with China, Central Asia, the Middle East, and even Europe.
