The once barren land of Shage Desert is now adorned with new photovoltaic clothing and surging green energy. On the vast wilderness of Xilingol League adorned with white flags, the silent desert is no longer an ecological weakness, but has transformed into a treasure trove of green energy. The integrated development of local new energy and ecological governance has entered a new stage.

The wilderness has new greenery

On September 4, 2026, the Xilingol Jingneng Zhihui Sand Control and Wind Power Photovoltaic Integration Project, with a capacity of 200000 kilowatts, successfully achieved full capacity grid connection in Baiqi. The project is located in Zhengxiangbai Banner, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia, with a total installed capacity of 200 megawatts and an area of approximately 5787.75 acres. It is a key project for the comprehensive management of the local Shage Desert.

Sand Sea Golden Stream

The project innovation adopts a development model of wind power photovoltaic development, sand prevention and control, and ecological governance, revitalizing idle desert land resources, breaking the limitations of desert development, achieving synchronous improvement of ecological, economic, and social benefits, and creating a high-quality demonstration model for the development and governance of new energy in Inner Mongolia's desert. Keywords: photovoltaic grid connection, ecological empowerment

It is reported that after the project is put into operation, the annual power generation is expected to reach 339 million kilowatt hours, saving 93200 tons of standard coal per year, reducing 221000 tons of carbon dioxide, 4200 tons of sulfur dioxide, 23500 tons of smoke and dust, and 1200 tons of nitrogen oxides. It will continue to help upgrade the local clean energy industry and firmly build a grassland ecological protection barrier.Editor/Min Jing
