Recently, at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 50MW photovoltaic project in Zanzugu Yipala and Tamali, Savana Province, Ghana, construction machinery was ready to go. On the same day, Shenneng Ansogu also signed a memorandum of cooperation for the development of another 150MW photovoltaic system. From EPC contracting to power plant investment, from signing a 2.58 billion yuan contract for the Sedin project to the first 50MW construction of Shenzhen Energy, Chinese companies are advancing in parallel in the Ghanaian photovoltaic market through two paths.

Sedin signs contract for 300MW photovoltaic
On October 24, 2026, ChemChina disclosed that its subsidiary Sedin Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a 300MW photovoltaic EPC contract with Ghana BASE ENERGY GHANA LIMITED in September, with an amount of approximately RMB 2.58 billion. The contract owner, Base Energy Ghana Limited, was established in 2009 and is a subsidiary of CH Group in Ghana. It has long focused on oil and gas exploration and development and is the operator of the Expanded Shallow Water Tano block in Ghana's offshore waters. This announcement only lists the contracting parties, the scale and amount of 300MW, and has not disclosed the project location, whether it is equipped with storage, transmission lines, construction period, power purchaser, and financing arrangements.

Deep Energy 50MW Construction Progress
Shenzhen Energy's subsidiary, Shenneng Ansuogu Electric Power Ghana Co., Ltd., operates gas power generation business near Tema and has expanded its business to photovoltaics. In October 2025, Shenneng Ansogu signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ghana Power Company for the northern 200MW solar project, and the project will be promoted to the implementation and landing stage by 2026. The first 50MW project will enter the official investment decision of the listed company in July 2026. It is planned to invest in the construction of the Tamali 50MW photovoltaic project in the Central Gonja area of Savana Province, Ghana, with a total investment of 34 million US dollars. The project will use 540Wp double-sided modules, 300kW string inverters, and build 161kV boost grid connection facilities. The project capital is 12.5 million US dollars, with Shenzhen Energy Hong Kong holding 60% and China Africa Development Fund holding 40%. The general contractor is China Energy Engineering Guangdong Thermal Power. The groundbreaking ceremony for the first 50MW project will be held on September 17, 2026. 150MW Start up Investment Project Proposal
On the day of the first phase of 50MW construction, Shenneng Ansuo Gu also signed a memorandum of cooperation for the development of another 150MW of photovoltaics. The project has initiated investment approval and plans to complete relevant investment decisions by the end of 2026. Risk assessment focuses on the compliance of the purchaser, land, grid connection, financing, foreign exchange, and overseas investment. In October 2026, the company released an inquiry for EPC general contracting consulting services for a 150MW photovoltaic power generation project in northern Ghana. The 150MW project is divided into three 50MW sub projects: Tugu, Sola, and Wacheng. The feasibility study of the project has been completed and PPA and land lease agreement have been signed. The deadline for consulting service quotation is 12:00 on November 1, 2026. In September 2026, Ghana released an updated overall plan for renewable energy from 2026 to 2030, proposing to add 852MWp of utility grade photovoltaics in five years. Sedin300MW and Shenzhen Energy 200MW demonstrated two entry paths, and the next round of engineering and equipment procurement in the future is worth continuing to follow up on.Editor/Gao Xue
