In the dry season wind in the northern part of Cesar province, photovoltaic panels have spread out in the sunshine. The operation and maintenance team of Ariguan í photovoltaic power station has been waiting for a key news during this period.
In early September 2026, the official documents from the Colombian National Environmental Licensing Agency ANLA were delivered to the office desk of the project owner Bogota Energy Group. This 6.08-kilometer transmission line connecting the power station to the La Loma 500 kV substation finally obtained the long-awaited environmental permit.

From ecological assessment to landing permit
For this permit, ANLA's interdisciplinary team ran in the jungles and farmlands of Cesar province for a full three months. Engineers from forestry, biology, hydrology, geology, and socio-economic fields surveyed the route section by section, marking every node that may affect local vegetation and small animal habitats in the assessment report.
The final ecological intervention area determined for the project is 15.14 hectares, while the corresponding ecological compensation area reaches 18.48 hectares, which is 3.34 hectares more than the actual intervention area. The project party also needs to sign long-term protection agreements with each farmer in the compensation area to ensure that the effect of vegetation restoration will not disappear with the completion of the project.
200MW photovoltaic is about to enter the grid
As early as the end of 2025, the Ariguan í photovoltaic power station itself had already obtained environmental permits. In the past year, the installation progress of the photovoltaic modules in the power station has been mostly completed, waiting for the approval of this transmission line to land. After the completion of the line, this 200MWac photovoltaic power station can be directly connected to Colombia's national main power grid, delivering over 400GWh of clean electricity annually.
