When the steel behemoth slowly rises by the Persian Gulf, an extreme challenge belonging to heavy industry is successfully conquered. China Power Construction Corporation completed the world's largest ship lift test at King's Port in Saudi Arabia, empowering the 2030 vision with hardcore technology and carving new coordinates for Chinese technology in global super engineering.

Successful ship lift test

The Saudi King's Port project, constructed by China Electric Power Construction Corporation, has successfully completed the world's largest ship lift operation test. The entire process of loading and unloading, sea land transportation, and ship entry and exit has been successfully tested. The ship lift platform is 245 meters long and 45.4 meters wide, with a total weight of 8600 tons. It is driven by 56 sets of lifting winches and has a maximum lifting capacity of 36400 tons, ranking first among similar equipment in the world.

Real ship testing to verify performance

This experiment innovatively adopts the scheme of combining a real ship with concrete weight blocks, with a total load of 19123 tons. The ship lift completes the entire process of ship docking, positioning, lifting, land transfer, descent, and ship unloading in sequence. Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and other systems operate in coordination, and all technical indicators meet the design standards. Keywords: PowerChina, Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia

Technical breakthrough empowerment project

This experiment is the most difficult key node of the project and an important part before commissioning. The project team has overcome multiple technical challenges such as synchronous lifting of large tonnage and multi system integration, obtained more than 20 national patents, and formed multiple independent innovative technological achievements. This project is part of Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision Key Project and aims to create a world-class maritime industrial complex. The ship lift is the core hub of the park, and the project is expected to drive an economy of 17 billion US dollars and provide more than 80000 job opportunities.Editor/Gong Ziwei
