Google has officially announced an additional 13 billion euros investment in four cities in Finland from 2027 to 2028, integrating AI computing power, nuclear power, wind power, and infrastructure into a complete green chain, directly transforming low-carbon electricity in the Nordic region into core computing power to support global Gemini services.

Long term low-carbon electricity anchored by ultra long power purchase agreements
The 22 year power purchase agreement signed between Google and Finnish state-owned power company Fortum directly binds to the extended production capacity of the Lovisa nuclear power plant. This nuclear power plant, which supplies 10% of Finland's national electricity, will provide sustained and stable zero carbon power for AI computing clusters.
Both parties will also jointly evaluate the feasibility of building a new nuclear reactor in Lovisa, supporting a 629 MW onshore wind power project. After the 94 MW battery energy storage system next to the Kayani base is put into operation by the end of 2027, it can quickly replenish the grid during wind power fluctuations, allowing every operation of AI computing power to step on the balance rhythm of the power system. All new infrastructure will be given priority access to the surplus electricity grid nodes in northern Finland, without having to squeeze the electricity share of local residents for computing power.

Finland Telecom Elisa has laid low latency high-speed networks for all newly built data centers, while Nokia's optical transmission technology ensures zero interruption for every AI Token transmission.
