The Sino Egypt Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone), which was founded in 2008 on the coast of Egypt's Red Sea and in Suhnai Spring Port, Suez Province, has now become a demonstration project for the joint construction of the the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of the Suez Canal Corridor Economic Belt in Egypt. As of the end of June 2026, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has attracted more than 200 enterprises, with a cumulative investment of over 4.7 billion US dollars.
In January 2024, Egypt became an official member of the BRICS countries, creating new opportunities for the expansion of the BRICS market in the Teda Cooperation Zone.
