On September 15, 2026, Saudi real estate company Al Akaria signed a contract with MOBCO worth 463.13 million Saudi riyals, approximately 123 million US dollars, to execute the first phase of the Jeddah Porta Jeddah complex project. On the same day, Al Akaria also awarded the project management contract to Parsons for an amount of 15.88 million Saudi riyals. For Chinese suppliers of curtain walls, stone, high-end doors and windows, and decorative materials, this is a clear signal to enter the high-end commercial real estate supply chain in Saudi Arabia through local general contractors.

Exterior facade engineering becomes the core section

Porta Jeddah is located in the Al Nahdah district of Jeddah, covering an area of approximately 47971 square meters with a total construction area of approximately 133000 square meters. The project includes international brand hotels and serviced apartments, Grade A offices, retail businesses, and public spaces, with the goal of positioning Jeddah as a comprehensive destination that integrates hotels, business, retail, and entertainment. The first section of the contract executed by MOBCO has a construction period of 820 days, covering structural engineering, facade engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, public square and landscape engineering. The exterior facade, as an independent project item, is clearly included in the scope of the first section, which is the most direct entry point for curtain wall and stone suppliers. In terms of project management, Parsons is responsible for the PMC contract for the entire project, MOBCO is the general contractor for construction, and MOBCO holds the decision-making power for subcontracting procurement. Suppliers need to interface with MOBCO's procurement system.

China's curtain wall stone has already established a foundation

The opportunity for Porta Jeddah is built upon the actual performance of Chinese companies in the high-end construction market in Saudi Arabia. In the field of curtain walls, Jianghe Curtain Wall Arab Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jianghe Group, has become the most active Chinese curtain wall contractor in the Saudi Arabian market. In April 2026, the company won the bid for the Royal Diriyah Opera House curtain wall project, with a total amount of approximately 274 million RMB; In August, we won the bid for the Northwest Transportation Hub curtain wall project, with a total amount of approximately 223 million yuan. Earlier, Jianghe Curtain Wall signed a subcontracting contract with Saudi Bin Laden Group for the Jeddah Tower Curtain Wall, with an amount of approximately 2.012 billion yuan. In the field of stone, Fujian Nan'an stone enterprises have entered Saudi Arabia through the front hall and back factory model, and Huahui Stone Industry and Montblanc Stone Industry have established processing bases in Saudi Arabia. Exhibitions are the core channel for entering the Saudi market, and the five major industry construction exhibitions in Saudi Arabia attract over 1100 certified suppliers annually. The general contractor is a necessary route

For curtain wall and stone suppliers, it is necessary to clarify the chain structure before entering Porta Jeddah. The first layer is accessed through the general contractor, and MOBCO holds the decision-making power of subcontracting procurement for curtain walls and stone materials. The second level is to focus on cooperation opportunities with local subcontractors in Saudi Arabia. Chinese suppliers can either directly supply to MOBCO or enter the supply chain through local curtain wall subcontractors. The third layer is to complete SABER compliance in advance. Saudi Arabia implements SABER certification system for imported building materials, and natural stone also needs to submit ASTM standard testing reports and consular certification documents. The supply chain window for high-end commercial real estate in Saudi Arabia is expanding from landmark projects to urban renewal projects. Porta Jeddah has a medium size but diverse business formats, with more projects and shorter decision-making chains, making it easier for small and medium-sized suppliers to enter.Editor/Gao Xue
