Under the scorching sun on the edge of the Sahara, a silent energy revolution is unfolding in North African mines. When the golden ocean of photovoltaic panels meets the blue matrix of lithium iron phosphate, a closed-loop chain of green electricity energy storage industry quietly takes shape. The meeting of Chinese technology and Moroccan sunshine is writing a new footnote for the the Belt and Road.

Recently, OCP Green Energy has put into operation the country's first large-scale lithium iron phosphate energy storage plant in the Bengali mining area, with core energy storage equipment supplied by China Farview Energy. The project has a scale of 25MW/125MWh and is equipped with a local 202MW photovoltaic power station. The project aims to build a closed loop of photovoltaic power generation, energy storage peak shaving, and industrial self use energy, storing surplus photovoltaic power during the day and releasing it during peak industrial electricity consumption. It can complete one charge and discharge per day and is expected to reduce peak electricity costs in mining areas by about 25%.
project implementation
Envision Energy has delivered a complete energy storage system to the Bengali mining area in Morocco. Li Tao, General Manager of Envision Energy in the Middle East and Africa region, stated that Morocco's first large-scale energy storage project has been successfully connected to the grid, confirming that the integrated light storage solution is suitable for industrial scenarios and combines reliability, flexibility, and economic advantages. Yuanjing is fortunate to participate in this benchmark project and export Chinese new energy technology solutions to Morocco. It is reported that Envision Energy will quickly complete equipment delivery and achieve grid connection after signing the contract at the end of 2025, demonstrating the overseas competitiveness of domestic energy storage system integration enterprises.

Sino Moroccan cooperation
This project is also a typical case of the continuous deepening of energy cooperation between China and Morocco in the joint construction of the the Belt and Road. Morocco is the first country in North Africa to sign the the Belt and Road Cooperation Plan. After the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in 2017, cooperation between the two countries has continued to advance in the fields of infrastructure, economy and trade, and energy. Morocco plans to increase the proportion of renewable energy generation to 52% by 2030. The industrial technological advantages of Chinese enterprises in photovoltaics, energy storage, and green hydrogen are highly matched with the local energy transformation needs. The implementation of this energy storage project by Far East Energy is a practical example of China's technology empowerment+localized operation cooperation model.Editor/Gong Ziwei
