Equipment failures have repeatedly occurred on Spain's high-speed trains, with new high-speed train bogies continuously experiencing cracking issues. The conflicting safety concepts between car companies and labor unions have led to frontline drivers voluntarily slowing down to avoid danger, resulting in disrupted route operations.

Recently, the Spanish National Railway Company has recalled six 106AVril series high-speed trains due to potential cracks in the power end car bogies. In order to ensure driving safety, multiple train drivers voluntarily reduced their operating speed from 300 kilometers per hour to 200 kilometers per hour, resulting in traffic delays on the route and triggering fierce disagreements between the operators and the driver's union.

The Spanish national railway has shortened the preventive inspection mileage of trains to 5000 kilometers and added non-destructive testing and real-time monitoring equipment, claiming that existing measures can ensure train safety. The union believes that the rectification efforts are insufficient, and high-speed driving vibration is the core cause of frequent cracks. This type of train will experience similar malfunctions for the first time in mid-2025. The thorough rectification work will start in 2027 and be completed in 2029. The car company will also compensate 116 million euros for equipment problems.Editor/Min Jing
