The shortage of drinking water has long plagued rural communities in Togo, restricting the improvement of local livelihoods and agricultural development. After a year and a half of careful construction, the rural water conservancy project assisted by China has been successfully completed, and more than a thousand villagers have access to safe and clean water sources, effectively solving the local drinking water problem.

Clear springs benefit thousands of people

On September 18, 2026, the completion ceremony of China's rural water conservancy project in Togo was officially held. Chinese Ambassador to Togo Wang Min and Togolese Minister of Water Resources and Cleanliness Alipuy attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. This aid project has jointly built 305 water wells, which have been successfully delivered after one and a half years of construction. They cover more than 300 villages in the local area, benefiting 170000 grassroots people and greatly improving rural drinking water conditions.
