In the darkness of Harare, the reception lights of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe were lit up, and nearly 300 representatives from various sectors of China and Zimbabwe gathered together to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. This gathering across mountains and seas has enabled the cooperation achievements of China and Tianjin, which have been deeply rooted in connectivity for many years, to be clearly displayed in the on-site images and exchanges.

Infrastructure connectivity strengthens cooperation foundation

Over the years, China and Zimbabwe have taken the vision of jointly building the the Belt and Road to link Zimbabwe to 2030 as the core, and have successively launched a number of landmark projects, such as the new parliament building, the expansion of Wanji Thermal Power Station, the reconstruction and expansion of Mugabe International Airport, to connect the breakpoints of roads, power stations, airports and other infrastructure one by one. By 2024, the bilateral trade volume will reach 3.8 billion US dollars. Chinese electromechanical products and Zimbabwe's characteristic agricultural products will be efficiently exchanged through interconnected logistics channels, allowing ordinary people in both countries to directly enjoy the benefits of cooperation.

Humanistic connectivity expands cooperation depth

The China Zimbabwe Friendship Scholarship continues to provide excellent students from Zimbabwe with opportunities to study in China. The Confucius Institute at the University of Zimbabwe conducts language and cultural exchanges throughout the year. The first Happy Spring Festival Carnival event held in the capital city of Harare in 2026 has further strengthened the daily interaction between the people of the two countries.

Currently, the two countries are continuously advancing towards a five-star ironclad cooperation framework, and under the linkage of interconnectivity, the construction of an all-weather community of shared destiny between China and Tianjin is gradually deepening and solidifying.Editor/Cheng Liting
