On the tropical wilderness of northeastern Brazil, builders from China and Pakistan worked together to stabilize the first Kite high-voltage iron tower on the foundation, and the construction of this four state power corridor has officially entered the physical construction stage. As the third ultra-high voltage project of State Grid in Brazil, it is connecting a green power highway directly to the load center for the vast local wind and solar resources.

Ultra long transmission lines open up green power transmission channels

The ± 800 kV HVDC transmission project in northeastern Brazil is the largest transmission franchise project in Brazil's history. The entire line will be built with 1468 kilometers of ultra-high voltage transmission lines, with a rated transmission capacity of 5 million kilowatts. The lines will run through the four states of Maranh ã o, Tocantins, Goias, and Minas Gerais, connecting a 10 million kilowatt wind and photovoltaic cluster in the northeast and directly reaching the load circle of the capital city of Brasilia. The entire project adopts China's mature ultra-high voltage direct current technology system, with transmission losses only one fourth of traditional 500 kV lines, and energy waste from over 1400 kilometers of cross state power transmission is controlled at an extremely low level.

The project continues the mature operational experience of the previous Beautiful Mountain project, and will achieve stable operation and maintenance within a 30-year franchise period. It can deliver over 20 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually, significantly reducing the abandonment rate of wind and solar power stations in the northeast and solving the industry pain point of a large amount of green electricity being idle due to insufficient transmission channels. After the project is put into operation, it will complement the first and second phases of the Beautiful Mountain project, and build a backbone network of ultra-high voltage transmission covering the north, south, east, and west of Brazil.

Simultaneous implementation of dual benefits of people's livelihood and low-carbon

After the operation of this ultra-high voltage line, it can stably meet the daily electricity needs of 12 million people in and around Bras í lia, greatly alleviate the power supply gap during the summer peak period in the capital region, and change the frequent temporary power rationing situation in the local area in the past. The stability of electricity consumption in the manufacturing and service industries within the region will be significantly improved, providing reliable power support for local industrial expansion.

The project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 6.84 million tons annually, equivalent to the carbon sequestration effect of adding nearly 200000 hectares of artificial forests, helping Brazil accelerate its transition from dependence on thermal power and promote the country's low-carbon energy transformation. During the construction phase, a large number of local job opportunities will be created, and a group of ultra-high voltage operation and maintenance technical talents will be trained for the local area, achieving the coordinated promotion of infrastructure construction and local capacity cultivation.
