A batch of hardware products are packed in the Dongguan factory and directly loaded onto ocean going cargo ships from the dock. They will appear on the unloading list at the Port of Linchaban in Thailand in 5 days. This sea route, which is no longer a detour or a transit, has now become a norm from an idea.

On October 7th, the ZHONG CHUAN HAI YUN vessel successfully docked at the first phase of Dongguan Port, marking the official maiden voyage of the container direct shipping route from Dongguan Port to Linchaban Port in Thailand, jointly opened by Dongguan Port Group and Zhonggu Logistics. The first ship is loaded with various types of goods such as hardware products, machinery and electrical equipment, finished paper, plastic products, building materials, etc., heading straight to the core hub port in Thailand.

Five days of new sea speed

The biggest highlight of this route is the point-to-point direct flight mode. After eliminating the intermediate docking and transit links, the entire sea voyage time has been compressed to 5 days, the transit period of goods has been greatly shortened, and the efficiency of cross-border logistics has been significantly improved.

For manufacturing enterprises, time is the stability of orders. If the goods arrive at the port one day earlier, it means that delivery is more guaranteed, capital turnover is faster, customer stickiness is stronger, and enterprises can have more confidence in seizing market opportunities.

Save real money and silver for enterprises

Dongguan is an international manufacturing city with a solid industrial foundation and a large volume of foreign trade. It has close economic and trade relations with Thailand. This direct flight route is deeply tailored to the export needs of the local industry, providing direct access to Thailand's core hub ports with stable cabin and container supply, and significant fare advantages.

The accumulation of transit costs, losses from secondary loading and unloading, and uncertainty in waiting for shipping schedules are all hidden costs that export enterprises have been unable to avoid in the past. Direct flights eliminate these links and effectively help enterprises reduce transit and time costs, continuously enhancing Dongguan Intelligent Manufacturing's competitiveness in the Thai market.

It is worth mentioning that the value of a route is not one-way. It also provides an efficient and convenient logistics channel for major paper mills in Dongguan to import recycled pulp, cassava starch, and Thai fruits, allowing raw materials to enter quickly and goods to exit smoothly.

Zhimi the Belt and Road route

The new route does not exist in isolation. It is deeply connected with the existing domestic trade route network and inland waterway transportation system of Dongguan Port, promoting the formation of an integrated logistics pattern of inland waterway collection and distribution plus international direct shipping, further expanding the port's radiation depth, and strengthening Dongguan Port's hub function as an important cargo support port in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.

At present, RCEP continues to release dividends, the the Belt and Road economic and trade cooperation goes deep and solid, the regional industrial chain collaboration is increasingly close, and the demand for Guangdong manufacturing in the ASEAN market is growing steadily. Dongguan Port Group said that it will take the opening of direct routes between China and Thailand as a new fulcrum in the next step, actively grasp the development opportunities of RCEP, continue to expand the layout of international routes, weave the ASEAN route network, deepen economic and trade exchanges with countries along the the Belt and Road, strengthen the advantages of Dongguan in developing goods, practically reduce the logistics costs of enterprises, and provide more efficient and convenient supply chain services for foreign trade enterprises in the Greater Bay Area.

From one route to one network, Dongguan Port is building a faster, denser and more provincial sea access into the the Belt and Road.Editor/Yang Meiling
