With the comprehensive implementation of construction, the expansion project of the Divaniye Refinery is steadily advancing. This $800 million project will fill the gaps in local refining, help Iraq overcome its dependence on fuel imports, and solidify its foundation for energy independence.

Progressing the project in stages

The contract amount for this project is approximately 800 million US dollars, and it is constructed by Al Barham Group, a local Iraqi enterprise. The owners are Central Refining Company and the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum, and the project adopts an integrated design, procurement, construction, and commissioning model. The project construction is divided into two stages. In the first stage, a new crude oil atmospheric distillation unit, liquefied petroleum gas processing facilities, utilities, off-site engineering, and pipe gallery system will be built. The daily processing capacity of the crude oil distillation unit can reach 70000 barrels. After the project is put into operation, the total refining capacity of the entire plant will be increased to 90000 barrels per day. Keywords: Divaniye Refinery, Refining and Chemical Expansion

Upgrade the refining process chain

In the second phase of the project, a naphtha hydrogenation, isomerization, and fixed bed continuous reforming unit will be implemented, along with accompanying gasoline upgrading facilities, further extending the refining industry chain and enhancing the production scale of high-quality finished oil products. After the completion of the project, Iraq's domestic refining and refined oil production capabilities will be significantly enhanced. At present, detailed construction data such as equipment list, total length of pipelines, concrete volume, and steel structure engineering volume have not been disclosed in public information.Editor/Min Jing
