The wind and light from the original desert continue to be transmitted to the central and eastern regions along the ultra-high voltage lines. On October 15, 2026, the latest statistical data from State Grid Inner Mongolia Eastern Power Co., Ltd. was released. Through the five AC and three DC ultra-high voltage transmission lines, the cumulative amount of electricity transmitted from Inner Mongolia has officially reached 974.54 billion kilowatt hours, which is about to break through the trillion kilowatt hour mark in the near future. The West East power transmission strategy has set a new operating record here.
The amount of transmitted electricity is approaching the trillion kilowatt hour mark
As an important national energy and strategic resource base, Inner Mongolia has been continuously promoting the layout of ultra-high voltage backbone network for many years, continuously transmitting the thermal power, wind power, and photovoltaic power enriched in grassland deserts to load centers such as North China and East China, steadily transforming regional resource advantages into tangible economic and development advantages. At present, the total capacity of Inner Mongolia's ultra-high voltage external power transmission has reached 48.7 million kilowatts, and the external power transmission has been among the top in the country for many years, maintaining a steady growth trend.

The latest calculation data in October 2026 shows that more than 970 billion kilowatt hours of external power transmission can meet the annual electricity demand of about 320 million households, equivalent to saving about 300 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 800 million tons. This provides solid cross regional energy support for ensuring power supply and achieving carbon reduction goals in the central and eastern regions. From the earliest small-scale transmission channels to the current ultra-high voltage backbone network, Inner Mongolia's cross regional power transmission capacity has achieved a leapfrog improvement.
Stereoscopic operation and maintenance guarantee continuous transmission of green electricity
In order to continuously strengthen the safety defense line of cross regional power transmission, State Grid Mengdong Power has innovatively constructed a three-dimensional operation and maintenance mode of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) three-dimensional inspection, intelligent online monitoring, and manual key duty, comprehensively ensuring the full load, high reliability, and stable operation of ultra-high voltage transmission lines. With the support of this new operation and maintenance system, the fault response speed of ultra-high voltage lines has been significantly improved, and the available hours throughout the year continue to remain high.

State Grid Mengdong Power is still continuously improving its ability to collect and transmit new energy electricity, fully unleashing the power transmission potential of the large-scale wind and solar power base in Shagehuang, and steadily increasing the proportion of regional green electricity transmission. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, State Grid Inner Mongolia East Power will continue to weave the Mite high-voltage transmission network, plan and construct the eight AC and six DC transmission channels in the western region of Inner Mongolia and the one AC and two DC transmission channels in the eastern region, ultimately forming a 14 AC and 10 DC ultra-high voltage power grid pattern, continuously improving the inter provincial power transmission capacity, further expanding the scale of green power transmission, and continuously contributing to serving the national energy security strategy, promoting the construction of a new power system, and assisting the national energy green transformation.
