A brand new mainline is planned to land in the northern part of the United Arab Emirates, and the 68 kilometer E-911 federal highway project has officially started consulting service bidding. This road connects the Dubai Sharjah border with Ras Al Khaimah, and is supported by an 8-kilometer connecting line in Umm Al Quwain. It will clear traffic congestion points in the northern emirate and form a linkage with the road projects being promoted in Dubai at the same time, reshaping the regional transportation and logistics pattern.

New trunk lines on the northern road network open for bidding
The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure issued a tender notice on October 15, 2026, soliciting proposals from engineering consulting firms. The deadline for submitting bids is October 23. This bidding covers consulting work such as preliminary research scheme design and operational supervision planning for the project. The E-911 main line connects the Dubai Sharjah border to Rashid al Shahada Road, and is connected to the E-611 UAE Road through an 8-kilometer branch line within Umm Al Quwain. The highway adopts a variable cross-section and has 12 to 16 lanes in both directions. The consulting team will focus on studying the route, traffic flow scale, intersection layout, and connection plan with existing highways, and finalize various technical standards. Collaborative formation of regional road network
This highway aims to tighten the transportation links between the northern emirates and enrich the selection of the main road network through the E-611 connecting channel. The current consultation bidding is only in the initial stage of the project, and further research will be conducted to refine the construction plan. As early as last month, Dubai announced its independent plan for the Fourth Corridor Highway, with a total length of 80 kilometers, connecting the three cities of Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. The estimated investment for the first phase of the project is 3.5 billion dirhams, approximately 953 million US dollars. It starts from Al Shanuf Road in Sharjah and ends at Al Ain Road in Dubai. The second phase continues to extend to Al Fayah Road in Abu Dhabi. The two projects are independent and jointly promote the construction of the UAE's cross Emirates road network, continuously improve regional traffic conditions, and unleash the potential for logistics development.Editor/Min Jing
