Recently, the main structure of the service pipe gallery for Road 3 and Road 16 of the Jeddah Central Comprehensive Development Infrastructure Project, undertaken by China Harbour, has been completed, marking an important stage of progress in the project construction and creating favorable conditions for subsequent mechanical and electrical installation, pipeline laying, and road construction.

The project is located in the city center of Jeddah, along the Red Sea coast in western Saudi Arabia, and is an important infrastructure project under the Saudi Vision 2030 framework. The project construction covers multiple fields such as municipal roads, comprehensive pipe corridors, service buildings, landscape architecture, and smart cities. After the completion of the project, the urban infrastructure will be improved to provide support for Jeddah to build a modern urban new area that integrates tourism, culture, sports, entertainment and other functions.

The completed service pipe gallery is located below the 3rd and 16th roads of the project, with a total length of about 1507 meters. It adopts cast-in-place concrete structure, with a concrete consumption of about 40000 cubic meters and a steel reinforcement consumption of about 5600 tons. The pipe gallery consists of standard sections, connecting sections, and transition sections, and adopts single-layer or double-layer structures according to the usage needs of different areas. Each section is interconnected, which puts high requirements on construction accuracy and on-site organization.

The project is located in a coastal area, with strong soil permeability and difficulty in controlling groundwater at the construction site. In addition, the local weather conditions such as high temperatures and sudden winds pose multiple challenges to underground excavation and main structure construction. Faced with complex construction conditions, the construction team promotes the deep integration of traditional infrastructure construction and digital technology with the concept of new quality infrastructure construction, fully leveraging the role of BIM technology in construction organization and refined management. Through three-dimensional models, the pipe gallery structure and surrounding underground pipeline distribution are visually presented, assisting in optimizing construction plans and coordinating construction processes. At the same time, based on the geological and hydrological conditions on site, groundwater pumping tests, slope stability analysis, and test section construction will be carried out. Construction measures will be continuously improved, construction resources will be reasonably coordinated, and various construction tasks will be orderly promoted on the basis of strictly implementing safety and quality requirements. Ultimately, the main structure of the service pipe gallery will be completed along the entire line.

As an important practice of deepening infrastructure construction cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia, the completion of the project will further enhance the urban carrying capacity and comprehensive service level of the central area of Jeddah, create favorable conditions for the development of local tourism, culture, sports, and entertainment industries, and help Saudi Arabia achieve diversified economic development and the 2030 vision goals.
