In late autumn at Khorgos railway port, gantry cranes kept rising and falling at the loading yard. Located 13.2 kilometers away from Hafang Port, with a different track gauge, the goods are loaded and transported westward here. On November 3, 2026 at 17:00, a China Europe freight train loaded with mechanical equipment, automotive parts, and electronic products departed for Łó d ź, Poland. As of that day, the number of China Europe (Asia) trains passing through the port this year has exceeded 8000. The goods on the car are connected to a batch of orders thousands of miles away.

High level operation of dual ports

Since the beginning of this year, the railway department in Xinjiang has anchored five strategic positions, focusing on the Asia Europe golden channel and the gateway to the west, accelerating the promotion of international intermodal transportation, and supporting Xinjiang's construction of a strong transportation area. This year, 15775 China Europe (Asia) trains and 32.074 million tons of cargoes passed through Alashankou and Khorgos railway ports, and cross-border transportation remained at a high level. More than half of the China Europe freight trains enter and exit from here. There are 91 regular trains in Khorgos, which reach 18 countries and 46 cities and regions outside the country. They carry grain and ore back on the return trip and send mechanical and electrical products to the west.

In accordance with the requirements of China Railway Group, the Xinjiang railway department has tapped potential and improved efficiency, increasing the maximum number of cars in the China Europe freight train from 50 to 55, and increasing the loading weight of each train from 2500 tons to 3000 tons, with a capacity increase of 10%; Cooperate with customs to promote the railway express mode and 95306 digital port system, and improve the level of customs clearance convenience. Railway Express eliminates the need for customs clearance documents, while digital ports allow data to be processed on a first come, first served basis. Strengthen cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, promote the transportation mode of wide gauge re export and standard gauge re import, utilize the wide gauge return air transport capacity between China and Kazakhstan, leverage the advantages of dedicated lines, increase the organization of wide gauge re export, and effectively increase port traffic volume. Empty truck boards are loaded on-site, while heavy trucks leave the country.

Run on time according to the schedule

Khorgos Station combs the flow direction of goods, carries out consolidation and transportation, and containers in the same direction and adjacent to the station are stacked and shipped in a centralized manner, reducing the transit time in the station. Accurate scheduling within the station, pre reserved arrival and departure tracks, with a daily average of around 28 inbound and outbound trains, and a maximum of 35 trains per day; Prior to the homework process, the on-site vehicle verification process was reduced from 37 minutes to 25 minutes, and the container handover process was reduced from 45 minutes to 35 minutes. With the expansion of the entire timetable train, the key monitoring and priority organization of receiving trains, bill handover, and hanging transportation will be carried out to ensure on-time operation according to the timetable. The total number of China EU trains passing through Khorgos will increase to 4, and the weekly total number of China EU trains will increase to 4.
