The waters of Hangzhou Bay through which the Tongsu-Jiaong high-speed railway passes are complicated in sea conditions, and the construction is faced with severe conditions such as large tidal range, fast speed, and chaotic flow, and construction risks are high. On October 22, 2020, it was learned from the Haiyan County Rail Transit Construction Headquarters of Zhejiang that the Hangzhou Bay Passage Project "Navigation Conditions Impact Assessment Report" has recently passed the expert review organized by the Ministry of Transport, marking Tong (Nantong) Su (Suzhou) Jia (Jiaxing) Ningbo (Ningbo) Railway has taken another step forward.

The Hangzhou Bay Passage Project, the Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Railway Bridge, is a component of the Tongsu-Jiaong-Ningbo high-speed railway. Detailed geological surveys have been carried out before. According to reports, there are two road bridges on Hangzhou Bay, the Jiashao Bridge and the Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge. The newly built cross-sea railway bridge is located between the two bridges, starting from Haiyan County in Jiaxing in the north and Hangzhou Bay New District in Ningbo in the south. It is 26 kilometers long and is the first cross-sea railway bridge on Hangzhou Bay.
After the completion of the Tongsu-jiayong high-speed railway, it will connect multiple administrative areas in the north and south of Suzhou and become the vertical main frame of Suzhou's "Feng"-shaped railway network. At the same time, it will open up a more straight passenger railway passage on the eastern coast and become an important auxiliary passage for coastal passages. , Is expected to attract traffic in the coastal corridors that currently need to bypass hubs such as Hangzhou, greatly shortening the distance between the northern Jiangsu, central Jiangsu, and Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan areas and the Hangzhou metropolitan area. The Tongsu-jiayong railway is part of the north-south direction in the national railway network planning "eight verticals and eight horizontals". It starts from Nantong, Jiangsu, runs through the main line of the Shanghai-Sutong Railway, crosses Hangzhou Bay and enters Ningbo. The main line has an operating length of 310.4 kilometers, of which The length of the new line is 301.3 kilometers. After completion, it will shorten the time and space distance between Ningbo and Jiaxing, Shanghai, Suzhou and other places, and is expected to realize the "1 hour traffic circle" with Suzhou and Shanghai, and Ningbo to Beijing within 5 hours.Editor/Luo Wentao
