On March 18, 2022, a Danish government study showed that it is feasible to build a new fixed channel across Denmark’s Kattegat Strait. However, the project will cost as much as $17.1 billion.
The proposal calls for the construction of a bridge from Jutland to the island of Samser, and then a bridge to connect the island of Samser to Zealand. The bridges will carry highway and rail lines connecting Samsoe Island. The proposals would include the construction of a new railway and a new motorway in Jutland, which would also link to Kalundborg in New Zealand. Keywords: engineering construction, engineering news
Some national funding from the Danish government will be required, but research shows that this will be significantly lower than originally envisaged when the project was proposed. One of the proposed financing methods is to use the revenue generated by the Great Belt Bridge to help pay for the new Kattegat link. The new route will cost the same as the road linking Denmark and Sweden.Editor/XingWentao
