On March 25th, Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng met with Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabayev, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on further strengthening cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the field of transportation.

Li Xiaopeng welcomed Marat Karabayev and his delegation. He pointed out that more than a decade after the the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward, China and Kazakhstan have deepened connectivity cooperation, vigorously developed international land and sea multimodal transport and transit transport, and successfully built a comprehensive and three-dimensional connectivity network covering roads, railways, aviation and other transport modes, with numerous highlights and fruitful cooperation. We hope that the Kazakh side will accelerate the implementation of the relevant domestic procedures of the China Kazakhstan International Road Transport Agreement and the China Kazakhstan Agreement on the Development of Cross Caspian Sea International Transport Routes, and promote the early implementation and effectiveness of the agreement to jointly build a good international transportation corridor across the Caspian Sea. The Ministry of Transport of China is willing to continue to play the role of the China Kazakhstan Transport Cooperation Sub Committee mechanism with the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, actively promote all-round cooperation in the fields of China Kazakhstan transportation infrastructure interconnection, railways, civil aviation, international transportation, etc., and make positive contributions to deepening China Kazakhstan transportation cooperation.

Malat Karabayev stated that the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Transport of China have maintained a stable and fruitful cooperative relationship for a long time. The two agreements signed and implemented between the two countries will undoubtedly further expand the international transportation channels between China, Kazakhstan, and China Europe, and promote the development of international transportation across the Caspian Sea to a new stage. The Kazakh side will take active action to accelerate the implementation of various relevant procedures to ensure the early entry into force of the agreement. At the same time, Kazakhstan is willing to continue to maintain close communication and cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of China, further expand and deepen practical cooperation in various fields on the basis of existing good cooperation, and jointly promote China Kazakhstan transportation cooperation to achieve more new results.

Both sides had in-depth exchanges of views on the construction of the 12 kilometer road from Alashankou to Dostok, the third cross-border railway between China and Kazakhstan, and cooperation between Aktau and Kurek ports. These issues demonstrate the extensive cooperation between China and Kazakhstan in the field of transportation, aimed at promoting infrastructure construction, facilitating trade, and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
