Recently, Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd., through its wholly-owned subsidiary - Hungary Xihe New Energy Development Co., Ltd., successfully achieved full capacity grid connected power generation of a 200 MW photovoltaic project in Tokaj, Hungary.

This milestone achievement marks the official launch of the Tokaj project, which is expected to contribute approximately 290 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity in its first year, injecting strong green energy into Hungary's energy structure. The successful grid connection of this project not only demonstrates Shanghai Electric Power's profound strength in the field of new energy, but also further promotes cooperation and development between China and Europe in the field of renewable energy.

The Tokaj Photovoltaic Project in Hungary, as the first overseas strategic deployment of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), marks a significant expansion of the company's global renewable energy footprint. This project has become the second shining pearl of Shanghai Electric Power's overseas layout, following the successful implementation of the Victor 132 MW photovoltaic project in Hungary.

The project was successfully delivered on December 23, 2022, with a total transaction amount of 33.05 million euros (approximately 245 million yuan), demonstrating the high value of the project and the widespread recognition of its prospects in the international market. To ensure the smooth progress of the project, Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd., through its subsidiary Shanghai Electric Power Energy Development (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., provided a performance guarantee of no more than 27 million euros under a power purchase agreement (PPA) price of no less than 83 euros/MWh, laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the project.

After careful preparation and efficient construction, on May 7, 2024, the Tokaj 197 MW photovoltaic project in Hungary welcomed the first batch of grid connected power generation units, marking the official entry of the project into the operation stage and contributing new strength to the clean energy supply of the local and even European regions. This achievement is not only a strong proof of Shanghai Electric Power and State Power Investment's ability to implement internationalization strategies, but also another important achievement of deepening cooperation between China and Hungary in the field of new energy and jointly promoting green development.

The full capacity grid connection of the Tokaj project not only demonstrates Shanghai Electric Power's influence and competitiveness in Central and Eastern Europe, but also demonstrates the company's firm commitment to promoting clean and low-carbon transformation and actively increasing the proportion of clean energy installed capacity. It not only adds a significant contribution to Shanghai Electric Power's layout in the global energy market, but also indicates that the company has taken more solid steps towards achieving sustainable development goals.(This article is from the official website of Jian Dao: www.seetao.com.
