Since April 13th, the international passenger train on the China-Laos Railway from Xishuangbanna to Luang Prabang has seen an important adjustment. The operation section has been successfully extended to Pu'er Station in China, and at the same time, Nadui Station in Laos has been newly added as a stop. This measure has increased the number of stops along the whole journey to 8, greatly enriching the travel options for passengers.

On April 13th, 2024, the international passenger train on the China-Laos Railway from Xishuangbanna to Luang Prabang made its first run. The convenient round-trip service on the same day significantly improved the travel efficiency of passengers. According to statistics from the Kunming Bureau of China State Railway Group, in the past year, this train has carried a total of 220,000 passengers, among which the number of cross-border passengers is 81,000, fully demonstrating its popularity.

After the expansion of operation, the D85 international passenger train from Pu'er to Luang Prabang departs from Pu'er Station at 7:22 am Beijing time and can arrive in Luang Prabang at 1:20 pm. The D86 international passenger train from Luang Prabang to Pu'er departs from Luang Prabang Station at 2:35 pm Beijing time and arrives at Pu'er Station at 8:13 pm. The train schedule is reasonably set, facilitating the travel of passengers between the two places.

The person in charge of the Passenger Transport Department of the Kunming Bureau of China State Railway Group introduced that for the cross-border tickets of the international passenger train departing from Pu'er Station, passengers can purchase them through the China Railway 12306 website (including the client), as well as the international ticket windows of 7 stations, namely Kunming, Kunming South, Yuxi, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Mengla, and Mohan Stations. For the cross-border tickets of the international passenger train departing from Luang Prabang, passengers can use the Lao railway's internet ticketing system, or purchase them through the international ticketing channels of 5 stations, namely Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Meng Sai, and Boten Stations. It should be noted that passengers who purchase tickets through the internet channels must present their valid passports used when purchasing tickets and go to the international ticket windows of the designated stations in the Chinese section and the Lao section respectively to exchange for paper tickets before boarding.
