As the scorching sun of the Arabian Peninsula brushes over the desert horizon of the city of Ibri in Oman, a land carrying the dream of clean energy is ushering in new vitality. The joint venture formed by China Energy Engineering International Corporation, East China Institute, and Hunan Thermal Power has officially signed a contract with a consortium of enterprises such as Masdar in Oman to acquire a 700 MW photovoltaic+150 MW energy storage power station project, injecting strong "Chinese power" into Oman's "2040 Vision" energy diversification goal.
Desert 'Chasing the Light': 700MW+Energy Storage Builds Green Electricity Benchmark
As one of the largest new energy projects in Oman in recent years, the project is located in the desert area of Ibri city, which has an annual sunshine duration of over 3000 hours and is a "golden zone" for photovoltaic power generation. The project innovatively adopts an integrated design of "photovoltaic+energy storage". The 700 MW photovoltaic modules will be paired with a 150 MWh energy storage system, which maximizes the capture of solar energy through ground tracking technology, while using energy storage equipment to smooth out power generation fluctuations, ensuring stable and reliable power output.

The project plan adopts Chinese standard high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and intelligent control systems, with an expected construction period of 18 months. After production, it can generate about 1.6 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year, which is equivalent to reducing 800000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and meeting the daily electricity needs of hundreds of thousands of households in Oman. The implementation of the project not only fills the gap of large-scale photovoltaic energy storage projects in the local area, but also will become a demonstration benchmark for new energy projects in the Middle East region.
Government enterprise collaboration: Empowering regional energy transformation with Chinese enterprise technology
This cooperation is an important milestone in China Arab green energy cooperation and a key breakthrough for China Energy Construction to deeply cultivate the Middle East market. As an active practitioner of energy transformation in the Middle East, Oman's "2040 Vision" clearly proposes to increase the proportion of renewable energy in the energy structure to 30%, and this project is the core carrier of this strategy.

From blueprint planning in the desert to future clean power output, China Energy Construction is lighting up Oman's energy transformation path with technological strength and responsibility. The successful implementation of the project will not only deepen the cooperation between China and Arab countries in the field of green energy, but also write a vivid footnote to the transcontinental energy cooperation under the "the Belt and Road" initiative, so that the "China Green" in the desert will continue to bloom in the Middle East.Editor/Bian Wenjun
