Recently, the Vietnamese industrial group THACO is actively promoting the layout of the entire bauxite and alumina industry chain. It plans to invest about 4.4 billion US dollars in Lintong Province to build large-scale mining and alumina processing projects, and research supporting deep processing industrial parks, aiming to build Lintong Province into an important integrated aluminum industry base in Vietnam and even Southeast Asia.

1.9 billion US dollars to build 2 million tons of alumina

The Lam Dong 2 alumina project planned and constructed by THACO has a total investment of approximately 1.9 billion US dollars and a designed annual production capacity of 2 million tons. The project will be implemented in stages, and the first phase with a production capacity of 1 million tons is expected to be completed and put into operation before 2030. The project will fully utilize the bauxite resources in Lintong Province and surrounding areas, adopt advanced low-temperature Bayer process technology, and achieve efficient and clean production.

2.5 billion US dollars to develop 12 million tons of bauxite

To ensure the supply of raw materials, THACO plans to invest approximately 2.5 billion US dollars to develop a large-scale bauxite project, with a target of mining approximately 12 million tons of raw ore annually. The project adopts open-pit mining method and is equipped with facilities for ore washing, transportation, etc. to ensure ore grade and supply stability. The service life of mines will be planned based on resource reserves. Keywords: New Energy News Network, Alumina

Building a complete aluminum industry chain

THACO is also planning and constructing a comprehensive deep processing industrial park, extending the industrial chain to downstream high value-added fields such as electrolytic aluminum, titanium processing, and chemical industry. The electrolytic aluminum sector will utilize self-produced alumina to construct a large-scale pre baked anode electrolytic cell production line. If all the projects are completed, Lintong Province will form a complete industrial chain from mining, production, smelting to deep processing, improve Vietnam's self-sufficiency rate of aluminum products, and promote the country's transformation from resource export to processing and manufacturing. The project is currently undergoing preliminary work.Editor/Gao Xue
