The development of the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains has always been constrained by water resources, and the construction of a modern water network is a key lever to break through the bottleneck of development. On July 2, 2026, Urumqi welcomed a delegation led by the head of the CSNWD. Local leaders gathered for talks and had in-depth exchanges on water-saving water diversion projects, watershed ecological governance, and other related topics. Together, they planned a number of key water conservancy projects to strengthen water security in border development through water conservancy cooperation.  

Controlling Water and Revitalizing Xinjiang

Chen Xiaojiang, on behalf of the local community and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, welcomed the visitors and introduced the development achievements of Xinjiang since the implementation of the new era governance strategy, highlighting the core supporting role of water resources in regional development. The local government continues to coordinate various water storage and regulation work, steadily improving the efficiency of water use. We hope to rely on the resources of the group to promote water network construction, intelligent engineering upgrading, and ecological restoration of the watershed, and comprehensively enhance the intensive utilization capacity of water resources.
