Numerous domestic oil and gas equipment and technology enterprises continue to explore the Central Asian market, and Uzbekistan has a strong demand for oil and gas resource development. Long term bilateral cooperation has accumulated deep mutual trust. CNPC went to the local area for high-level talks, finalized the plan to accelerate the construction of oil and gas projects, simultaneously laid out deep exploration and green low-carbon new tracks, and opened up incremental markets for the domestic industrial chain to go global.  

The CNPC delegation went to Tashkent to hold high-level talks with the heads of Ukrainian oil and gas companies. The two sides reviewed the results of years of cooperation, sorted out the operation status of existing pipeline and gas field projects, finalized measures to accelerate construction projects, and simultaneously planned the long-term layout of the entire oil and gas industry chain. China and Ukraine maintain regular high-level communication, hold multiple meetings to continuously consolidate cooperation consensus, stabilize the bilateral energy cooperation environment, and support the integrated pattern of cross-border gas transmission and local oil and gas development through the two major joint venture platforms.

Stable cooperation chassis

Both parties will focus on verifying the operational effectiveness of the two joint venture platforms. The Asia Cross border Gas Pipeline is responsible for the cross-border transportation of natural gas in Central Asia, and all parties will continue to optimize the operation and maintenance of the pipeline network to ensure stable gas supply. The New Silk Road Oil and Gas Company is deeply engaged in local oil and gas exploration and development, adjusting development plans through fine reservoir monitoring, and tapping into the potential for increased production in gas fields. Long term strategic partnerships and multiple high-level connections have laid a solid foundation of mutual trust for the sustained implementation of large-scale energy projects.

Key projects for speeding up

Both sides are advancing the construction of two major ongoing projects. The Ustyurt Deep Exploration Plan aims to complete the drilling of 30 deep wells from 2026 to 2028, with a single well depth of 5500 to 6 kilometers. The geological conditions will rigorously test the construction technology. All parties will accelerate the installation of drilling equipment on site, and the project will drive the export of domestic deep well equipment and supporting materials. Simultaneously promote the rectification of Boysun gas field, allocate Chinese equipment and personnel to complete hidden danger treatment, and output mature and complex gas field treatment technology.  

Expand the cooperation track

In addition to steadily advancing existing projects, both parties plan to engage in long-term diversified cooperation, jointly explore deep and unconventional oil and gas resources, promote long-term development and extraction technologies for oil and gas fields, explore low-carbon extraction and clean utilization models for natural gas, and simultaneously carry out technical exchanges and talent cultivation. The Central Asian oil and gas market continues to release demand for engineering operation and maintenance equipment, and domestic complete sets of oil and gas technologies are adapted to local complex working conditions, relying on mature cooperation platforms to have outstanding competitive advantages in going global. The high-level meeting has implemented a series of project deployments, continuously consolidating the foundation of cooperation in the entire energy industry chain between China and Ukraine, and promoting the extension of bilateral cooperation from traditional development and operation to a new field of green and low-carbon.
