Relying on the opportunity of the Belt and Road joint construction, China Kazakhstan cross-border logistics cooperation continues to go deep and solid. During the Shanghai International Business Forum, Kazakhstan Railway Corporation and several leading Chinese enterprises reached a large amount of cooperation, making all-round breakthroughs in infrastructure, transportation capacity, digitalization and financial settlement, and opening up a new channel for connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Weaving dense logistics channel

The total value of this signed cooperation is about 400 million US dollars, focusing on core areas such as port logistics, shipping manufacturing, and international freight. Multiple enterprises from China and Kazakhstan are working together to upgrade the Cross Caspian International Transport Corridor, optimize the functions of core transit nodes such as Aktau Port, and open up a intermodal transportation channel from China's eastern ports to Kazakhstan's Caspian Sea ports. At the same time, both sides will carry out shipbuilding cooperation to assist Kazakhstan in building a local inland shipping fleet, filling the gaps in regional maritime transport capacity, continuously improving the efficiency of China Eurasia freight trains, and achieving efficient two-way flow of cross-border goods.

Upgrade to Smart Logistics

Digital upgrading has become the core highlight of this cooperation. Kazakhstan Railway Company has partnered with multiple Chinese technology companies to implement projects such as smart ports, digital transportation management, and IT infrastructure construction. Both parties will establish a cross-border logistics information sharing platform, relying on technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence to optimize train scheduling, cargo tracking, and customs clearance processes, build an integrated smart logistics system, promote the transformation of traditional transportation channels into intelligent hubs, and lay a solid technological foundation for the development of cross-border e-commerce industry.

Innovative economic and trade settlement

This cooperation has implemented a dual currency settlement model of RMB and tenge, effectively avoiding trade risks caused by fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate, improving the settlement system of the Chinese and Kazakh currencies, and providing stable financial support for long-term economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
