Chervelle La Rue and Obervelier in the suburbs of Paris, as well as further away Chartres and Val de Loire - Orange's five data centers in four campuses are about to experience a scale leap.

On July 27, 2026, Orange signed an exclusive agreement with global infrastructure investment firm Morrison to establish a 50/50 joint venture with the goal of increasing Orange's data center capacity in France nearly tenfold from current levels to 400 megawatts.

400 MW Sovereign Computing Base

According to the agreement, Orange will inject five data centers located in the aforementioned four parks, while Morrison will provide equity and debt funding, with a joint investment valuation of 3 billion euros. The joint venture will leverage one of the lowest carbon power structures in France and Europe to create a sovereign level digital infrastructure platform in response to the surge in demand for AI and cloud services. Orange Business will serve as the exclusive partner to distribute hosting and hosting services to large enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises, and the public sector, while Orange retains control over its own operational areas.

The transaction is expected to be signed by the end of 2026 and delivered in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.

Accelerated consolidation of data center assets

The French data center market is currently in a structural expansion channel. At the Paris AI Summit in February 2026, domestic and international investors pledged over 109 billion euros for AI infrastructure construction. The market size of data center construction is expected to grow from 5.2 billion US dollars in 2025 to 10.1 billion US dollars in 2035, with a compound annual growth rate of 7.6%. Orange Group's revenue in 2025 is 40.4 billion euros, serving 340 million customers in 26 countries; Morrison was founded in 1988 and managed assets of over $30 billion as of March 2026. The joint venture will release the value of Orange's existing assets and provide France with a sovereign digital base in the global AI computing competition.Editor/Cheng Liting
