On the morning of July 28, 2026, in the Binhai Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park of Tianjin Economic Development Zone, construction machinery lined up and stood by, and construction personnel entered the site fully equipped. With the issuance of the construction order, the Tianjin Comprehensive Test Base of the National Pipeline Network Group officially broke ground. In this planned high-tech innovation highland, three major experimental facilities will be erected in the future, including intelligent pipeline network collaboration, pipeline environment coupling, and multi-media pipeline transportation, as well as ten iconic experimental devices. From basic research to industrial verification, a research and development platform covering the entire chain will start here, injecting new impetus into the key technological breakthroughs in the national energy storage and transportation field.
Ten major devices covering the entire R&D chain
The Tianjin Comprehensive Experimental Base is located in the Binhai Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park of Tianjin Economic Development Zone, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan. Three major experimental facilities will be planned and constructed for the base: the smart pipeline network spatiotemporal collaborative experimental facility, the pipe body and environment coupling experimental facility, and the multi-media fusion pipeline transportation experimental facility.

Around the three major facilities, the base will simultaneously construct ten iconic testing devices, including full-size tensile testing devices for pipeline detectors, pipe soil coupling simulation testing devices, pipeline operation and maintenance equipment testing and verification devices, etc. These devices will build a full chain experimental research and development platform covering indoor experiments, pilot scale, experimental verification, and industrial testing. The base also undertakes the experimental verification function of deep integration of artificial intelligence and core business, with a complete positioning function, complete chain, leading performance, and high-end intelligence, providing hardware support for key core technology research and development in the energy field.
Eight major functions anchor the source of scientific and technological innovation
In terms of functional positioning, the base focuses on tackling core technologies in the field of energy storage and transportation, integrating eight core functions including technology research and development, experimental verification, collaborative innovation, promotion and application, practical training, talent cultivation, technical exchange, and achievement display.

This layout is committed to building the core scientific and technological innovation carrier of the National Pipeline Network Group, the original technology source of the pipeline industry, and the world-class innovation highland for new energy pipeline transportation, leading the paradigm shift in scientific research. As an important strategic location for the National Pipeline Network Group in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, the base not only serves the group's own technical needs, but also promotes industry open collaboration and common technological breakthroughs in pipeline inspection, intelligent operation and maintenance, and new material applications. From laboratory to engineering site, from basic research to achievement transformation, the base will play a key hub role in the innovation chain of energy storage and transportation.
