In July on the Loess Plateau, in the core industrial park of Qingyang East Calculation West Calculation, when the last can of concrete was poured into the roof of the first phase of China Unicom Qingyang Data Center, the foreman took off his safety helmet and blew a fan - the building has one underground floor, four above ground floors, a total height of 25 meters, and a building area of about 23000 square meters. The main construction task has been completely completed, and the project has entered the outdoor supporting sprint. According to the schedule, this building will be completed, delivered, and put into operation with lights on in September this year.

Starting from October 2023, when China Unicom Gansu Branch took over the task of calculating the East, West, and West nodes, this loess land will no longer be the old way of only growing crops and wind turbines. The total planned investment for the park is 3.4 billion yuan, with a land acquisition of 100 acres. Four data center buildings, one 110 kV substation, and one operation and maintenance building will be built in stages; The first phase of the project invested 1.63 billion yuan, starting with a 4-storey main building and 2 gatehouses, built according to the national standard A-level computer room and China Unicom T3 standard, leaving space for high-power liquid cooled servers.
Phase I hard indicators
The building is not high and heavy. After the delivery of the first phase, the entire park will eventually be able to accommodate 8000 high-power density cabinets, withstand 144 megawatts of IT load, and output 120000 standard computing power as a whole; The A intelligent computing center, which was put into use first, can provide 36 megawatts of IT load, 1943 cabinets, and 30000 P computing power on a single floor. The power supply is provided by a 2N city power and diesel unit, and the cooling system is equipped with water-cooled centralized air conditioning and indirect evaporative cooling. The PUE pressure is within 1.20, making it a green and low-carbon model for China Unicom in the western region.

Internet connectivity
Computing power cannot just lie in the cabinet. By 2023, China Unicom will have established a super fast direct connection channel from Qingyang to 12 hub nodes across the country, with access to Beijing, Tianjin, and Shanghai within one hop. The total export bandwidth is 9.6T, and the reliability is over 99.99%; Overlaying the deterministic computing power network built throughout Qingyang, it takes 1.5 milliseconds to reach Xi'an and 9 to 15 milliseconds to reach the eastern hub. Customers in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions can adjust their cards in Qingyang, which feels close to the local data center.
Add one hub
After the building lights up, the focus will be on meeting the high demand for training and reasoning in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei and Yangtze River Delta regions - the eastern computer rooms are fully booked, electricity prices are high, and carbon targets are tight. Qingyang has green power aggregation as a backup, low latency links, and A-level computer rooms, which can relieve the pressure. Looking at the overall market, the computing power of Qingyang cluster has surged to the level of 150000 P, DeepSeek、 The top models such as Zhipu have laid out the nodes, and the 8000 cabinets of China Unicom have been added. The western anchor point of the national integrated computing power network has been further strengthened.

For Qingyang himself, the project is not just about building houses. It follows a cluster of 3.32 million kilowatts of thermal power, 1.83 million kilowatts of energy storage, and 5 million kilowatts of green power. The electricity price in the park has been reduced to below 0.398 yuan/kilowatt hour, and clean energy accounts for over 90%. The computing power vouchers, industrial funds, and data annotation bases are all tied together. The era of selling cabinets on the Loess Plateau has passed, and the chain of selling keywords, scheduling, and green computing power is being connected - on the day this building was electrified in September, Qingyang took another half step towards becoming a national level computing hub.Editor/Yang Meiling
