From the wellhead deep in the Gobi Desert to the venue on the street of Chang'an, an energy artery is quietly thickening. When the handshake between the two sides extends from simply buying and selling crude oil to upgrading refineries and developing gas fields, the cooperation between China and Kazakhstan is no longer simply a matter of resource transit, but truly twisted into a rope, jointly weaving the energy security network of the Eurasian continent.

Recently, Kazakhstan National Oil and Gas Company held high-level talks with China National Petroleum Corporation in Beijing. Both sides have held consultations on projects such as expanding crude oil pipelines, upgrading refining, developing natural gas, and exploring oil fields. The feasibility study for the expansion of the Kazakhstan China crude oil pipeline has been launched, promoting the interconnection of energy infrastructure between the two countries to a new level.

Pipeline expansion start

During the meeting, Ashat Hasenov, Chairman of Kazakhstan National Oil and Gas Company, and Zhou Xingxin, President of China National Petroleum Corporation, focused on discussing the expansion plan of the Kazakhstan China crude oil pipeline. It is reported that after completing internal approval, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have initiated a feasibility study to increase the transportation capacity of the two main oil pipelines.

Improve the industrial chain

Both parties are discussing the upgrade project of the Shymkent Refinery, with plans to increase the annual processing capacity from 6 million tons to 12 million tons by 2030, achieving a doubling of production capacity. The technical review, market research, model building, and patent vendor screening work in the early stage of the project have been completed. Both parties have optimized the plan, reduced investment, and promoted feasibility study preparation. In the field of natural gas, both sides exchanged information on the progress of the Ulihtao gas field in Aktobe Oblast. The Ulihtau central condensate gas field has reserves of approximately 29.4 billion cubic meters, with a maximum annual production of 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which will strengthen Kazakhstan's gas supply system.
