On August 4, 2026, the Brazilian government decided not to send the previously recalled Ambassador to Argentina, Giulio Bitelli, back to Argentina and downgraded Brazil's diplomatic relations with Argentina to charg é d'affaires level.  

According to Brazilian media reports, the Brazilian government has informed the Argentine Ambassador to Brazil that the Brazilian Embassy in Argentina will be managed by a temporary charg é d'affaires on a daily basis, and has demanded that Argentine President Millais stop making insulting remarks against the Brazilian government, otherwise the ambassador will not be sent back to Buenos Aires.  

On July 25, 2026, the Brazilian Liberal Party held a national congress in the southeastern Brazilian city of S ã o Paulo and officially nominated Flavio Bolsonaro, the son of former Brazilian President Bolsonaro, as the party's presidential candidate. Millet was invited to attend and strongly criticized Brazilian President Lula in his speech, protesting against Brazilian Federal Supreme Court Justice Alexander de Molais' obstruction of his visit to Bosonaro, who is currently serving a sentence. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs subsequently recalled Giulio Bitelli on the 26th to protest against the words and actions of Argentine President Millet.Editor/Min Jing
