In the early morning, a middle-aged and elderly train carrying Southeast Asian bananas had just arrived in Chongqing at the customs supervision operation site in the Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park. This batch of fresh tropical fruits, departing from Vientiane, Laos, arrived in Chongqing almost without stopping through the "one box to the end" mode. Compared to the past, this route has reduced logistics costs by over 16%, allowing Chongqing citizens to taste exotic fresh fruits at more affordable prices. At the same time, lemons from Tongnan are also taking the China Laos Thailand cold chain train, which can appear on the shelves of Thai supermarkets in just 5 days, significantly reducing the loss rate.

This change of one in and one out is a vivid epitome of the construction of a modern logistics system in Chongqing during the 15th Five Year Plan period. At the recent interpretation conference of the "15th Five Year Plan for the Development of Modern Service Industry in Chongqing", a blueprint for the coordinated development of logistics hubs and the economy is slowly unfolding.

Weaving dense backbone logistics network

Chongqing is committed to improving the service level of five national logistics hubs, changing the previous situation of independent operation of each hub, and promoting their collaborative networking. By coordinating and optimizing the city's layout, and systematically promoting the construction of ports, stations, and storage facilities, Chongqing will make every effort to connect the last mile of entering ports, parks, and enterprises. The goal is to reduce the ratio of total logistics costs to GDP to 13% by 2030, cultivate 18 5A level logistics enterprises, and build a backbone logistics network that covers urban and rural areas, connects the whole country, and radiates globally, making it easier for "Made in Chongqing" products to go global.

Innovative multimodal transport

In order to provide stronger support for the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster, Chongqing will use brands such as the Asia Europe Express as a lever to innovate multimodal transport models. By promoting the efficient connection between the Western Land Sea New Corridor, the China Europe Railway Express, and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, we aim to achieve "one commission, one box to the end, and one order to the end" in the logistics process. At the same time, iterative construction of a comprehensive service system integrating trade and finance, integrating tools such as land and sea international stations and international trade digital platforms. For example, Fuling pickled vegetables are exported to Southeast Asia via rail sea intermodal trains, which shortens the time by more than 10 days compared to traditional water transportation and greatly enhances market competitiveness.

Upgrading the Hub Economic Zone

The increase in channel traffic is accelerating its transformation into industrial dividends. Chongqing is promoting the construction of a logistics hub economic zone, guiding the aggregation of high-end service formats such as logistics, trade, finance, and information, and promoting the transformation of hubs from single nodes to functional areas that integrate "hub+industry+trade". By creating application scenarios such as "Chongqing Car Going Global" full chain services and "Land Sea Full Chain Fixed Price", we provide transparent and controllable logistics solutions for industries such as automotive, electronic information, and advanced materials. Chongqing's goal is to double the freight volume, value, and intermodal transportation volume of the Western Land Sea New Corridor compared to the end of the 14th Five Year Plan by 2030, empowering "Made in Chongqing" to go global with high-quality services.Editor/Yang Meiling
