Kazakhstani President Tokayev is on a working visit to Shanghai, China.   From CATL battery factories to Smart Cargo digital logistics platforms, from 600 MW pumped storage power stations to 60000 square meters of cold chain warehousing centers, Chinese forces are embedding unprecedented depth and breadth into the construction process of the Trans Caspian International Transport Corridor.

$15 billion industrial structure

From July 15th to 17th, 2026, Kazakhstan and China signed over 70 commercial cooperation agreements in Shanghai, with a total amount exceeding 15 billion US dollars, covering areas such as resource development, industrial manufacturing, digital economy, and artificial intelligence governance. CATL has confirmed its willingness to build a battery production plant in Kazakhstan, which is expected to become the first battery manufacturing project of the same scale in Central Asia. China Communications Construction Group has reached an agreement to jointly develop a 600 MW pumped storage power station project located in the Kalgaray River Valley, providing energy support for the data center, metallurgy, battery manufacturing, and new energy vehicle industries. Tokayev highlighted the Smart Cargo digital logistics platform, which integrates customs, logistics, and commercial services into a unified digital window. About 85% of railway freight between China and Europe is completed through Kazakhstan.

Deep cultivation of enterprise clusters

China Petroleum has been deeply involved in the energy and chemical industry for many years, and Sinopec is cooperating to build a large-scale natural gas chemical complex. In the field of financial investment, Samruk Cazena Fund has signed more than 110 commercial cooperation agreements with CITIC Group, with a total amount of approximately 20 billion US dollars. HOWO, Yutong, and Jianghuai Automobile have already started production in Harbin in the field of automobile manufacturing. The multi brand automobile production projects of Changan, Great Wall, and Chery will officially start in 2026. In the field of agricultural processing, Fufeng Group cooperates to build a corn deep processing project, and Lihua Group cooperates to build a modern cotton textile industry cluster. From AI to robots, from intelligent instruments to express logistics, Chinese capital has fully covered various tracks of industrial upgrading in Kazakhstan. Intelligent corridor accelerates formation

The Samruk Kazena National Welfare Fund announced that Kazakhstan and China will jointly build an intelligent transportation corridor across the Eurasian continent, promoting the deep integration of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence with international logistics networks. A comprehensive transportation and logistics system covering Lianyungang Port, Khorgos East Gate Dry Port, Xi'an Railway Port, Aktau Port and Almaty ZHETYSU Logistics Park has been built. In 2027, Chengdu International Railway Port will officially join the network. Under the tripartite cooperation model between Kazakhstan, China, and Ukraine, the second phase of the Tashkent Oblast Multi functional Logistics Center, with China Railway Construction Engineering Group serving as the general contractor, has commenced construction. After the modernization and renovation of Kurek Port, the loading and unloading time of railway ferries has been reduced from 18 hours to 12 hours, and a cumulative cargo throughput of 884800 tons will be completed in the first half of 2026. After the completion of the Bakht Ayagoz railway, it will form a third cross-border channel with an annual transportation capacity of up to 25 million tons.Editor/Gao Xue
