The Bureau of International Economic Cooperation Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce is responsible for organizing, implementing, supervising and managing the whole process. The project focuses on the shortcomings of urban transportation in Port Vila and plans to carry out comprehensive upgrading and renovation of 19 roads in the city, with a total length of approximately 12.29 kilometers. After the completion of the project, it will effectively optimize the transportation network structure of the capital city, improve the municipal functional system, thoroughly improve the traffic conditions of old roads, greatly enhance the overall appearance of Port Vila, provide convenience for local commercial circulation and residents' travel, and comprehensively improve the quality of life of the people. Bilateral partnership talks about the original intention of cooperation

Henry Walek, Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities of Vanuatu, and Chen Zongwei, Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Vanuatu, jointly attended the signing ceremony and delivered speeches. Both sides have high expectations for the project construction. Henry Walek stated that this project is a friendship project that witnesses the deep friendship between China and Vanuatu, and has milestone significance for the economic and social development of the capital city of Vanuatu and the enhancement of its urban image. The Wa side will make every effort to coordinate and provide supporting support for the local area, fully safeguard the construction progress of the project, ensure the early completion and commissioning of the project, and effectively benefit the local people from the development dividends.

In his speech, Counselor Chen Zongwei pointed out that infrastructure connectivity is the core focus of high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" between China and Vanuatu, and livelihood infrastructure is an important link to connect the hearts of the two peoples.
