On August 17, 2026, good news came from the 120 MW source grid load storage integration project in Tuha Oilfield: the annual cumulative power generation reached 108.2 million kilowatt hours, officially breaking through the 100 million kilowatt hour mark, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%. Since its official grid connection on December 31, 2022, the historical cumulative power generation of the project has reached 533.918 million kilowatt hours. As the first integrated demonstration project of source, grid, load, and storage in China Petroleum and one of the first in Xinjiang to be completed and put into operation, this power station, which has been connected to the grid for less than three years, not only refreshed its power generation data, but also ran a practical example of the new energy integration and transformation in the oil and gas industry.

Annual green power generation exceeds 100 million kilowatt hours
As of August 17th, the annual cumulative power generation of the 120 MW source grid load storage integration project in Tuha Oilfield has reached 108.2 million kilowatt hours, exceeding 100 million kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 6.2%. Since the grid connection at the end of 2022, the historical cumulative power generation has reached 533.918 million kilowatt hours. 100 million kilowatt hours of green electricity is equivalent to saving 32500 tons of standard coal and reducing 84400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The project is different from ordinary grid connected photovoltaic power plants. From the beginning of its establishment, it is not an isolated power generation facility, but a micro energy system that covers the entire chain of source grid load storage.

Collaborative scheduling reduces costs and increases efficiency
Since the beginning of this year, Tuha Oilfield has played a collaborative combination of four dimensions: tapping potential from the power generation end, unblocking the power grid end, matching the load end, and compacting the management end. By fine-tuning equipment debugging and dynamically optimizing power generation strategies, we aim to maximize the release of installed capacity, promote the upgrading and transformation of supporting power grids, and overcome consumption bottlenecks. We will implement a terminal electricity load guarantee plan to proactively adapt the production load of oil fields to the rhythm of green electricity output, breaking down annual power generation targets into monthly and daily levels. This strategy ultimately achieved zero external purchase of electricity for oil field production in the Turpan region during the period of photovoltaic power generation. Green electricity directly replaced traditional municipal electricity supply for production, reducing the cost of oil field electricity while improving the level of new energy consumption. Continuous release of demonstration effect
In 2023, the project was successfully selected as a landmark achievement in promoting green transformation through the integration of oil and gas exploration and development with new energy in China. In the past, many oil and gas companies' new energy businesses were caught in a dilemma of having two separate businesses. Photovoltaic power stations were independently built and connected to the grid for electricity sales, without any connection to the main oil and gas business, and were simply physically stacked. The integrated model of source, grid, load, and storage precisely activates the natural resource endowment of oil and gas fields. Idle well sites and station land serve as the source end carriers, and the internal power grid undertakes the grid end functions. Stable production electricity demand serves as the main body of load end consumption, combined with energy storage to regulate power generation fluctuations and form a closed-loop clean energy supply system. In the next step, Tuha Oilfield will continue to deepen the refined operation and management of new energy projects, accelerate the construction of a diversified development pattern dominated by oil and gas, empowered by new energy, and coordinated by multiple industries, and provide replicable and promotable transformation plans for the green and low-carbon transformation of oil and gas fields.Editor/Gao Xue
