In 2026, the Latin American AI computing market will usher in a new wave of expansion. Terranova, a large-scale data center operator launched by sustainable infrastructure investment firm Actis in 2025, has officially launched the construction of a large-scale AI computing park in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. This initial investment of $500 million is filling a critical supply gap for the rapidly growing demand for AI computing power in South America.
The landing details of the Brazilian park are clear
The project covers a total area of 233 acres, with only 28 acres occupied by the data center and supporting facilities. The remaining land will be used as a green belt or transferred to the municipal department. The initial planned IT capacity of the park is 216 MW, which can be expanded to 386 MW in the future. The initial capacity of the supporting substation is 300 MW, and it can be expanded to 1 GW in the long term.

The various stages of the project will be completed gradually before 2029, and during the peak construction period, 3000 direct and indirect employment positions can be created. In the next five years, 650 long-term fixed positions will be provided. In response to the relatively scarce local water resources, all data centers will adopt closed-loop liquid cooling systems to minimize the impact of operations on the local water supply system.
The layout of computing power in Latin America continues to advance
Terranova has previously announced a three-year $1.5 billion investment plan, covering three core markets: Brazil, Mexico, and Chile. The first data center located in Mexico was officially put into operation earlier in 2026, with an initial capacity of 8.12 megawatts and the potential to expand to 20 megawatts in the long term. It only took 12 months from start to phased delivery, and the construction efficiency far exceeded the regional industry average.

The specific details of the Chile project are still in the planning stage and will be gradually announced to the public in the future. Based on Actis' existing data center operation experience in Asia, Terranova can achieve cross regional technology and resource collaboration, providing more flexible and sustainable computing solutions for global and local customers.
