Recently, Uzbekistan President Mirziyoyev presided over a special conference on the development of artificial intelligence, listened to the report on the achievements of AI ecological construction, and deployed future priority directions. In recent years, the country has risen 25 places in the international AI readiness ranking to 62nd place globally, with the goal of entering the top 50 by 2030. The scale of AI software and services has reached 1.5 billion US dollars, and more than 200 new projects have been implemented. The three core tasks of computing infrastructure, industry application implementation, and talent cultivation are advancing simultaneously, and major Central Asian countries are accelerating their efforts to seize the new track of artificial intelligence development.

Expanding computing power to meet strong demand

The supercomputer based on Nvidia technology was put into operation last month, ranking 321st in the world in terms of computing power. Within one month of operation, the cluster load reached 90%, and the market demand far exceeded expectations. A computing power facility worth 24 million US dollars has been built, with plans to invest an additional 70 million US dollars to expand the cluster, while promoting cooperation with foreign capital to build a data center in Karakalpakstan. The President has requested a comprehensive review of information resources from various departments, ensuring data integrity and reliability, promoting data integration, and building industry datasets. The plan is to have over 100 AI application projects by the end of 2026, covering industries such as healthcare, energy, transportation, customs, legal, public safety, ecology, and geology.

Accelerating the construction of industrial ecology

The IT park will collaborate with technology companies, AI startups, and over 20 artificial intelligence research laboratories to promote the implementation of technology projects. It is expected that by 2026, there will be 300 companies settled in the AI field park, with a service scale of 2 trillion Sums and an export value of 160 million US dollars. Uzbekistan, relying on its membership in the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, continues to promote the introduction of advanced technologies and the research and development of big language models, and carries out joint projects with foreign technology enterprises and research institutions to accelerate the cultivation of the artificial intelligence industry ecosystem and international cooperation. Talent cultivation covers 1.5 million people

More than 1.5 million people nationwide have obtained AI related certifications, and 900 managers, over 3000 public officials, 1000 banking professionals, and 200 consultants have completed specialized training. In the next two years, a 5 million AI leader project will be implemented, and a new version of teaching materials will be developed to cover primary and secondary school students, university teachers and students, and the general public. 222 AI local advisors have been selected from 500 candidates nationwide. The President has requested the recruitment of overseas young technical talents to participate in the work, establish quantitative performance evaluation standards, and build a dedicated digital platform to track advisor performance and project progress.
