On September 7, 2026, Ambassador Li Fan attended the opening ceremony of the Kvanj Buna tunnel on the pan European 5C corridor highway. Vice Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliament, Jovic, Federal Prime Minister Nik š i ć, Federal Minister of Transport and Communications, Kati ć, and General Manager of the Federal Highways Company, Rasi ć, as well as representatives of project contractors, attended the event. Counselor Gai Guoqiang of our embassy attended.

This tunnel is an important component of the Pan European 5C Corridor Expressway, located south of Mostar, designed as a double tube tunnel and constructed by China Road and Bridge Corporation. The tunnel will begin excavation and construction at the end of October 2025, marking the completion of the dual tunnel full line connection.

The Kovani Buna Tunnel project is a successful example of trilateral cooperation between China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the European Union, and is also another important achievement of China Poland transportation infrastructure cooperation. The smooth progress of the project fully demonstrates China's speed, Chinese technology and Chinese responsibility, and also injects new impetus into deepening the high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" between China and Poland, which will strongly drive regional economic and social development and benefit the local people.
