Trina Storage's subsidiary, Trina Solar Energy, has secured the first phase energy storage supply order for the Waroona renewable energy project in Western Australia, with an energy storage capacity of 81.5MW/562MWh. This is a formal equipment supply contract.

The project is located approximately 120 kilometers south of Perth, Western Australia, and is connected to the Southwest Interconnection System (SWIS) of Western Australia. The first phase is equipped with 132MW photovoltaic+81.5MW/562MWh energy storage, with a storage time of about 6.9 hours. The TrinaStore Elementa DC coupled energy storage solution is adopted, and the photovoltaic and energy storage are integrated on the DC side.
The project is equipped with TrinaStore lithium iron phosphate energy storage cells, equipped with liquid cooling heat dissipation, hot smoke gas detection, and active fire protection system. The supply comes with a 20-year product warranty and long-term service agreement. The first phase of the project was selected for the sixth round of the Australian Commonwealth CIS Capacity Investment Program tender. The total investment of the project is approximately AUD 310 million, and construction has started in September 2026. The plan is to achieve the first grid connected power generation in 2028.
Clear division of labor in the project supply chain: LONGi provides photovoltaic modules, SMA supplies inverters; Monford Group undertakes the EPC project, while Global Power Services is responsible for the construction of substation supporting engineering. According to the public plan of the project, the Waroona project can be expanded to 1GW of photovoltaic and 660MW of energy storage in the long term.Editor/Min Jing
