Namangan Oblast, located at the northern end of the Ferghana Basin, is an important densely populated area in Uzbekistan with thriving local industries. However, some road traffic conditions restrict the flow of goods and external exchanges. In order to overcome the bottleneck of road network development, the local government took the initiative to connect with overseas high-quality engineering enterprises. On September 17, 2026, representatives from Namangan Prefecture and Shanghai Construction Engineering Group held a work meeting to initiate practical communication on the modernization of local transportation.

Government enterprise meeting to discuss infrastructure direction

The Governor of Namangan State and the Deputy General Manager of Central Asia Region of Shanghai Construction Engineering Group held formal talks, focusing on exploring cooperation opportunities for the modernization of highway transportation infrastructure in Namangan State. The focus of the meeting is on the construction and expansion of highways, exploring the use of modern methods to implement large-scale road projects, and studying feasible paths for drawing on international mature experience and cutting-edge construction technologies in the road construction process.

The local government fully recognizes the key role of transportation construction in regional development. The modernization and upgrading of roads, as well as the improvement of traffic quality and carrying capacity, can effectively enhance the attractiveness of Namangan state for foreign investment and lay a solid foundation for the long-term development of the regional economy. During the meeting, both parties simultaneously sorted out the landing conditions for Shanghai Construction Engineering's participation in potential local infrastructure projects, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Road connectivity activates regional kinetic energy

The improvement of road traffic will directly drive the efficiency of personnel and cargo transportation, strengthen the connection between Namangan Oblast and other regions in Uzbekistan, and expand the space for external regional linkage. The local area has diverse industries such as textiles and agriculture, and a well-developed road network can reduce logistics and transportation costs, help export local specialty products, and create more convenient hardware conditions for foreign capital to land, providing comprehensive services for the overall investment and construction planning of the region.
