The northern Moroccan city of Tangier is planning to upgrade its urban rail transit, and the local national railway has officially launched an airport connected railway project, opening up pre qualification for global contractors.

According to Moroccan media reports, the Moroccan National Railway Authority (ONCF) has launched the pre qualification for the international bidding of the railway from Tangier City Station to Ibn Battuta Airport, which is the first project of the Tangier regional express network. The project has a total length of about 22.5 kilometers, with double track electrification, connecting the urban sports stadium residential area with the transportation hub, and multiple stations along the entire line.

The civil engineering and infrastructure are divided into three sections, and construction is carried out in sections. The final section includes approximately 6 kilometers of elevated railway. After the completion of the project, it will open up a fast track from the center of Tangier to the large sports stadium and airport, laying the foundation for the subsequent construction of the regional express network and bringing new opportunities for Chinese enterprises to participate in the North African infrastructure market.Editor/Min Jing
