On the calm sea surface of the Gulf of Thailand, an engineering ship loaded with a central processing platform and supporting pipeline racks slowly sailed towards the Wassana oil field operation area, and Valeura Energy's offshore installation operation officially began. This oil and gas redevelopment project, which was advanced two months in advance, is opening up new production capacity growth space for this mature offshore oil field.

Project progress ahead of schedule, locking in incremental benefits

The Wassana oilfield redevelopment project is located in the G10/48 block of the Gulf of Thailand. The onshore construction phase was completed ahead of schedule on October 1, 2026, and the platform and jacket were immediately loaded onto ships for shipment. The offshore installation operation officially began on October 9, and the overall production pace was about two months ahead of the original plan. Valeura has informed the drilling contractor that the Shelf Enterprise drilling platform will be put into operation on November 1st to complete the addition of new well slots in the Nong Yao oil field, and then move on to the development drilling phase in the Wassana oil field.

After the new central processing platform is put into operation, it can achieve a stable daily output of about 7500 barrels. Early production will directly bring an additional crude oil increment of about 430000 barrels in 2027. The company has previously raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to $220 million to $235 million, with some 2027 budgets moved forward to this year. Overall project costs are still within the predetermined budget range, and there is no risk of overspending.

Reserve expansion space to extend the mining cycle

Valeura made the final investment decision for the project in 2025, with the core being to replace the current mobile offshore production unit Ingenium with a new fixed central processing platform, which is expected to be retired by the end of 2027. The processing capacity and stability of the new platform have been greatly improved, which can support more oil well access, directly expand the scale of exploitable resources in the oil field, and extend the overall economic development period of the block.

During the platform design phase, interfaces for satellite production facilities on both the north and south sides have been reserved. Recently, geological surveys in the southern region of the oil field have identified significant new oil resources. The company is evaluating the follow-up exploration drilling plan, and once the reserve scale is confirmed, it can be quickly integrated into the existing processing system without the need for repeated construction of large core facilities, significantly reducing the development threshold of surrounding marginal oil fields.
