On October 8, 2026, Indonesian President Prabowo presided over the launch ceremony of 11 Chinese funded mining downstream projects at the Weidabe Industrial Park in Central Hamahira District, North Maluku Province. These projects have a total investment of approximately 10.2 billion US dollars and involve fields such as power batteries, nickel cobalt materials, electrolytic aluminum, new energy engineering machinery, and commercial vehicle manufacturing.

Prabowo also witnessed the first export ceremony of electric vehicle batteries from Chinese enterprises in the park on site. He stated that the cumulative investment in Weidabei Industrial Park has reached over 20 billion US dollars, and plans to increase investment by 7 billion US dollars in the future. Since its development, the park has created over 100000 job opportunities. The cooperation between Indonesia and China has made the relationship between the two countries closer and will bring more benefits to the people of both countries.

Indonesian Minister of Investment and Downstream Development, Luo Shan, stated that the implementation of the new project will help Indonesia build a complete ecosystem for the supply chain of electric vehicle batteries. This deep integration of downstream will ultimately contribute to Indonesia's comprehensive industrialization.

Weidabei Industrial Park is invested and constructed by Qingshan Holdings Group Co., Ltd. It is the second comprehensive industrial park built by the company in Indonesia after Morowali Industrial Park. The park started construction in 2018 and has now formed a complete industrial chain from mining to battery material production.
