At noon in Ho Chi Minh City's No.1 Liangchang, a heat wave enveloped in salty sea breeze swept towards us. As the last concrete pump was sent into the mold and the vibrating rod slowly retracted, a 32.6-meter-long and 760 ton railway standard prefabricated box girder was successfully formed in the first section of the Vietnam Qinye High speed Railway. This is a crucial milestone for the first overseas project undertaken by China Construction Railway Investment and Construction Group Co., Ltd., laying the first foundation for subsequent mass production and installation of beams.

The Vietnam Qinye High speed Railway is a high-speed urban railway from Binh Van to Qinye in Ho Chi Minh City. It is also the first privately-owned high-speed rail transit project in Vietnam, with a total length of 54 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It is a high-speed urban railway. The project is invested and constructed by VinSpeed, a subsidiary of Vingroup. The core systems such as vehicles and signals are provided by Siemens Mobility, while the civil engineering part is promoted by the owner organizing multiple resources. The first section constructed by the company is 8.288 kilometers long and is jointly responsible for the prefabrication, handling, and installation of box girders in the beam yard. The railway company independently coordinates construction resources, technical support, beam yard construction, and on-site management throughout the entire process.

Six hour pouring battle

A total of 230 railway standard prefabricated box girders are required for the first section. The single box girder is 32.6 meters long, 12.6 meters wide for the top plate, 5.4 meters wide for the bottom plate, 3.015 meters high for the beam, and weighs 760 tons. It has a large weight and size, and belongs to the category of large volume, high-precision railway prefabricated components, requiring extremely high construction technology standards. The test box girder poured this time is made of C50 high-performance concrete and continuously poured in one go, with a single pouring volume of about 272 cubic meters. The project team worked continuously and strictly controlled the pouring time within 6 hours. From cutting, layer by layer vibration to surface curing, each process was precisely controlled, effectively ensuring the integrity, compactness, and flatness of the beam body, and eliminating common quality problems such as construction cold joints, honeycomb and rough surfaces, and dimensional deviations. The first box girder has a neat appearance and stable structural performance, and has passed the pouring acceptance with high standards, marking that Ho Chi Minh City 1 # Beam Yard has officially achieved large-scale and standardized prefabrication production capacity.

Running Vietnam Speed in Two Months

The construction conditions in Ho Chi Minh City, where the project is located, are extremely challenging: high temperatures and humidity throughout the year, with an average temperature of 32.7 ℃ during daytime operations and a peak perceived temperature of over 43 ℃ during the dry season. It is also accompanied by heavy rainfall, lightning gusts, high tides, waterlogging, and seawater salt erosion throughout the year. The maintenance of components is difficult, steel structures are prone to rusting, and materials are prone to mold, which requires increased emphasis on precision control, finished product maintenance, and on-site safety management. Faced with the test, the project management team ran into the site on June 23, efficiently completing the selection of the box girder prefabrication team, screening and transportation of steel processing equipment, and synchronously promoting the construction of the beam yard. On August 20th, the beam yard successfully met the production conditions for box girders - it took less than two months from entry to production readiness.

The foundation of 2898 beams

Behind the high-quality pouring of the first beam is the professional accumulation of the company's years of deep cultivation in the field of railway beam prefabrication. Since 2019, the company has successively undertaken railway beam yard projects such as Changjinghuang, Lanzhang, Huyurong, Liuwu, CZ, etc., and has completed 7 beam yard certification and 2898 prefabricated beam construction tasks. Based on the research of lean construction technology for 40m large-span simply supported box girders on high-speed railways, the company has formed a complete technical system covering BIM smart beam yard, 40 meter box girder special tooling, intelligent construction and quality control, large-span box girder static load test, and box girder lifting and lifting safety control. Changjing Huangliang Field has won 7 internationally leading, internationally advanced, and domestically leading technological achievements, as well as multiple patents, software copyrights, and provincial and ministerial level construction methods; Lanzhang Liangchang has repeatedly ranked first on the entire line, becoming the first successful project of box girder erection for a Level II operating line on the entire line; Shanghai Chongqing Rongliang Field has won multiple championships in special competitions.keywords:Southeast Asia engineering information network

The beam yard project of the first section of the Vietnam Qinye High speed Railway is a successful exploration by the railway company to set sail with professional capabilities. The project introduces mature domestic beam making technology, standardized management experience, and a complete set of beam field certification solutions overseas, and adapts them to local regulations, climate, and construction conditions to provide owners with a full cycle solution from beam field planning, temporary construction, certification certification, prefabrication production to installation, forming a replicable service output model. Years of accumulation are transforming into a solid foundation for high-quality pouring of the first box girder overseas, and laying a solid foundation for further expanding overseas markets and promoting the professional development of railway companies.Editor/Yang Meiling
