A two-story factory building covering an area of 1.2 hectares was officially put into operation in April at Industrial Park No. 5 in Chunzhu City, Xing'an Province, northern Vietnam. In the workshop, the robotic arm completes module stacking along the assembly line, with an automation rate of over 90%; In the nearby R&D center, Vietnamese engineers are debugging an energy management system compatible with the national power grid. This is GG Power's battery energy storage system factory and one of the first professional energy storage facilities in Vietnam. Half a year later, the co builders of this factory, Goldwind Technology and GG Power, sat together again and signed a new strategic cooperation agreement.

Starting from a factory

The fate of both parties began with a technology authorization in November 2025- Goldwind transferred battery energy storage system production technology to GG Power and helped them design a production line with an annual capacity of 5GWh. In April 2026, the factory will be put into operation, covering application scenarios such as household use, industrial and commercial use, and power grid side. Goldwind brings not only equipment and drawings, but also international safety experience, supply chain capabilities, and operational technical support; GG Power contributes to the local manufacturing network and market channels. Relying on localized production, GG Power has established a service capability of 30 minute response and 24-hour problem-solving, and plans to achieve a localization rate of over 50% for battery energy storage systems by the end of 2026.

New exam questions for the power grid

Behind the accelerated operation of factories is the increasingly tight string of Vietnam's power system. As of the end of 2025, the installed capacity of Vietnam's national power system is about 87.6GW, including about 24.45GW of renewable energy such as wind power, solar energy, and biomass energy. The maximum load for the year reached 54.37GW, a year-on-year increase of 11.1%. Abandoned light in the south and power shortage in the north coexist, with the dry season being more prominent. The revised eighth power plan has listed energy storage as a key measure and proposed a goal of achieving a storage capacity of 10GW to 16.3GW by 2030; Centralized photovoltaics require 10% of installed capacity and 2 hours of supporting energy storage, while independent energy storage stations have also obtained clear electricity pricing mechanisms and legal status for the first time. New energy has shifted from being the main force of installed capacity to being the main force of electricity, and energy storage has become a must answer question.keywords:Southeast Asia engineering information network

New situation of energy storage in front of the table

The new agreement focuses on energy storage in front of the meter. Both parties will deepen collaboration around the construction of production lines, technology authorization, and the enhancement of localized manufacturing capabilities, and plan to cooperate on nearby 2GWh scale energy storage projects; At the same time, it is predicted that the cumulative market demand for energy storage products in the next three years will be about 3.3 GWh, providing reference for capacity layout and supply chain coordination. The simultaneous promotion of production line technology upgrading, local technical talent cultivation, and product production and supply means that cooperation is moving from production to good use. Based on local manufacturing in Vietnam, the two sides will also explore diverse cooperation models to extend their service radius from Vietnam to the broader Southeast Asian market, providing more energy storage solutions for regional energy transformation.Editor/Yang Meiling
