Recently, the bidding announcement for the Kunming Anning 350MW Compressed Air Energy Storage Demonstration Project has been officially released. It is reported that the project is being promoted by Anning Yunneng Investment Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. as the tenderer, located in Anning City, Yunnan Province. The overall construction investment is estimated to be about 1.832 billion yuan, marking the substantial promotion stage of major projects in the local new energy storage field.

As a typical new energy storage project, this compressed air energy storage demonstration project innovatively plans to utilize the retired salt cavern resources of Kunming Salt Mine and transform them into core gas storage facilities. In the ground supporting construction phase, the focus will be on building three core facilities: air compression system, heat storage and exchange system, and turbine power generation system. After completion, the power station will be connected to the Kunming main power grid to undertake the energy storage function on the grid side, providing support for peak shaving, frequency regulation, and safe and stable operation of the regional power system.

From the perspective of project layout, the factory site has been determined to be located in the Kunming Salt Mine area in the western part of Taiping New City, Anning City. The engineering construction covers both above ground and underground parts, and the construction scope fully covers the core functional modules of the energy storage system. According to the plan, the total project duration is set at 600 natural days, equivalent to 20 months, and it is expected to efficiently promote the construction and commissioning process as planned.
