On September 20, 2026, TrendForce EnergyTrend, in collaboration with overseas energy media, disclosed that four Chinese energy storage companies — Sungrow, Trina Storage, Willing New Energy, and Renac Power — have recently landed overseas energy storage orders, with a total scale exceeding 2.3 GWh. The projects cover core overseas energy storage markets such as Germany, Australia, and Hungary. As soon as the news was released, it quickly attracted widespread attention in the industry. This group of concentrated orders showcased the comprehensive competitiveness of domestic energy storage system manufacturers in the European and Australian markets, and also reflected that energy storage going global is shifting from simply selling equipment to a new stage of competition in full-cycle system solutions and long-term operation and maintenance services.

Sungrow locks in a large order from Germany

Sungrow has signed a two-year energy storage project framework agreement with German local energy storage developer be.storaged, with a target cooperation scale of 1.6 GWh. be.storaged is an energy storage development platform under German energy giant EWE, specializing in local energy storage project development, grid licensing, and long-term operation. According to the agreement, Sungrow will provide a complete set of products and technical solutions for the PowerTitan 3.0 liquid-cooled energy storage system. The partner will be responsible for the early development, civil engineering, grid approval, and long-term operation and maintenance of the project. Both parties plan to adopt this standardized energy storage system in multiple independent energy storage power plant projects in Germany, shortening the project construction period and reducing the landing cost of GWh-level energy storage projects. The demand for peak shaving in the German power grid is strong, and the safety, temperature control, and reliability standards for energy storage systems are strict. The implementation of this framework represents the large-scale recognition of domestic liquid-cooled energy storage system solutions by local German developers.

Trina Storage deepens its presence in Australia

In the Australian market, Trina Storage has won the first-phase energy storage order for the Waroona renewable energy project in Western Australia, with a scale of 81.5 MW and 562 MWh, and a supporting 132 MW photovoltaic power station. The project is located approximately 120 kilometers south of Perth, with an energy storage duration of about 6.9 hours, and is expected to be put into operation in 2028. The project adopts the Trina Elementa DC-coupled energy storage solution, which can achieve coordinated control of photovoltaic and energy storage, and adapt to the weak grid operation characteristics of Western Australia's long-distance power grid. This order agreement includes a 20-year warranty and maintenance service, which are increasingly valued by overseas clients. The Western Australian power grid has a huge span and abundant wind and solar resources, but the stability of the grid is insufficient. Long-duration energy storage is a key support for local new energy consumption, which is also an important reason for Trina Storage to continue to deepen its integration of wind, solar and energy storage in Australia.

Flexible implementation in Central and Eastern European segmented markets

In addition, there are two small and medium-sized orders landing simultaneously. Willing New Energy has reached a 150 MWh energy storage framework cooperation agreement with Hungarian energy company Szermann Kft, and plans to implement multiple industrial and commercial energy storage projects in Hungary and surrounding Central and Eastern European countries in the next year. Renac Power's 5 MWh industrial and commercial energy storage equipment has been shipped and sold to the European market. It is not difficult to see from the distribution of orders that domestic energy storage manufacturers have formed a differentiated layout logic when going global. Sungrow mainly focuses on large-scale independent grid energy storage in Europe, Trina Storage focuses on integrated wind and solar energy storage projects in Australia, and small and medium-sized energy storage enterprises aim at the sub-markets of industrial and commercial energy storage in Central and Eastern Europe.
